Buffer Bear has provided quality childcare since 1992.
Our founder, Dr Kay Turner, wanted to help four British Rail nurseries continue as an independent network after BR’s privatisation.
Today, we’re a social enterprise that has become one of the largest and most reputable childcare providers in the UK.
Our ethos is to provide high-quality, affordable childcare that’s flexible enough to meet the demands of modern working parents.
As a not-for-profit organisation, any money we make is reinvested in our employees, buildings and equipment.
We work alongside local authorities, NHS Trusts and employers to ensure that every one of our nurseries provides a service that’s best suited to support the needs of the community it serves.
Buffer Bear provides childcare to suit every parent. We offer extra support for families that are looking to return to work or training, and for children in need.
We’re also great believers in listening to the people we provide for.
Many of our nurseries have a local Management Committee, through which parents and employees exercise considerable influence over key management decisions.
To make sure we’re doing the best job we can, we also work alongside local community groups, including schools, churches, colleges, community associations and Sure Start local programmes.
