What we offer

All our nurseries operate a Key Person system. This means your child will have a ‘special person’ who will meet with you when you first come to the Nursery for your settling in visits. They will help you complete the paperwork and ask you about your child’s routine, likes and dislikes. The Key Person will get to know you and your child well and will ensure your child’s individual needs are met and that you are updated on their development.

In our Nurseries early starters will be welcomed by staff and if you would like them to have some breakfast they can whilst being supervised by the staff. This will often take place in one room so the children are not on their own waiting for their friends to arrive. As soon as breakfast is over and some of their friends have arrived they will go to their own base room.

During the day your child will have free access to a range of activities which have been organised in ‘areas’ to enable them to become independent in a secure environment. In some of the rooms children have free access to the outside environment. We encourage the children to go out in all weathers.

During the morning the children are offered a free flow snack – this means the children can come to have a drink and some fruit when they feel ready so that it doesn’t interrupt their concentration if they are engrossed in their play. Staff monitor and invite the children to make sure they eat or drink something to keep them going. Fresh water is also available throughout the day. Depending on the development stage of your child and the way they are feeling they may choose to have a nap – all the nursery rooms have cosy areas and staff will observe to see if anyone is ready for a sleep. If children fall asleep whilst playing they will be transferred to a sleep mat so that they are comfortable. Should your child be asleep at lunch time their lunch will be kept warm for them. After lunch the under 3’s usually have a rest but if they have slept previously or you do not want them to sleep for long they will be offered play opportunities.

During the day your child will be closely supervised and many learning opportunities will be offered. These may range from Zoo Lab visiting to going for a walk to the shops to buy the ingredients for some cooking, a visit to the library, music or maybe just lying on the ground to look at the clouds. Some small group times are offered, making music, dance and stories. These are also times when the children are offered ‘new experiences’, your child can join if they choose and they usually do as they are such fun. Whatever they choose to do they will be having an enjoyable time with their friends. We would also love to hear if there is anything special your child likes or wants to do, so that this can be organised.

During the afternoon tea is provided. This can range from sandwiches to soup depending on the weather. When you come to collect your child you will be told about their day, what they have been doing, eaten and achieved. We try really hard to cater for your child’s individual needs so if they have a different routine please let us know so that it can be accommodated.
