The government has announced that parents who believe that their children are too young to start school at the age of 4 will be able to keep them in free full-time nursery classes for a year. The move is designed to be of particular benefit to summer-born children, who often do less well at school as a result of being “young for their year”. They will effectively be able to delay the start of their formal schooling for a year and to skip the reception year. Buffer Bear will be very happy to provide on-going care and education for children whose parents wish them to take advantage of this opportunity to continue their development in a setting with high staff ratios, and therefore possibly more able to accommodate their individual requirements.
